The network code was sold and licensed separately by SCO in
that release. The network code is not accidentally 'missing'
nor freely transferrable. An activation or license key was
needed as well, as I recall.

I have a ten seat license certificate for a SCO version I have
(no longer running it, however) here. This was pretty common
in the commercial Unix variants of that Era -- HP's approach
included the code, but with a one user license across the LAN
and one at the console. A 'codeword' key enabled additional
network connections.
