I have been disappointed with RedHat for some time. I tried 6.1,
7.0, 7.1, 7.3, and 8.0 on my Thinkpad. One of the big selling points for
that model was that it was supposed to have been RedHat certified. Sound
never did work right under RedHat, and with 7.1 and later, I had to tell
it that the video ram was 4MB rather than the actual 2MB in order to
have a resolution higher than 800 x 600. And the later releases insist
that it has to install the lm_sensors package with KDE, which happens to
be deadly to several Thinkpad models. RedHat will have to improve
considerably before I will even think of trying on a laptop again.
