Sure, xhost is not the most secure... That's one of the reasons I did
mention using the magic key (xauth) in the original reply. It comes down
to a balance of security versus convenience. In my case, I know perfectly
well how to use magic cookies (I used to work at a company that wrote X
servers) but I am perfectly content using xhost on my home network.
