Something with the video, then. Was it always this way under XFree86, or
did it get this way? Do you know of anyone with this model of laptop for
whom video works fine under XFree86? What driver are you using for
XFree86? (/etc/X11/XF86Config(-4), section "Device"m driver=?)

4MB should be enough for 1024x768@32bit with a meg left over for driver
slop and caches... You're not trying to run some huge setup, are you?

Not much swapped out, so you're not low on RAM. Unless you have a 956KB
swap file/partition...

That's a high load for sitting around doing nothing, and the other numbers
(they're something like an exponentially-decayed number of entries in
the run queue with 1, 5, 15 minute time constants) say it's been going
like that for a while. Something is using up a significant chunk of CPU.
But nothing shows up near the top of the list in "top"?
