NKS hosts the slug list for free, and we would have no problem hosting
another list (say "slug-offtopic"?) with minimal effort on our part if
there were adequate interest. We have found, however, that subscribers
rarely actually use the other lists.

I'm grateful not to be paying for a hosting service for my own personal
hosting (it's a company perk) - if there were really interest in
something not affiliated with NKS, I would be more than willing to host
a list myself (on my own hardware colo'ed at the various NKS
datacenters). Honestly, though, there really hasn't been much demand -
NKS does try to provide a solid community service.

Then again, I'm an employee, which does skew my perspective a bit...
