Also heat.

My primary "desktop" is a Toshiba Satellite laptop with a 15" monitor,
but it's too heavy and heats up my legs too much for traditional laptop
use on my lap.

I got an old IBM 600E for darn little as a travel laptop. Works fine,
long battery life, does everything I need (with Linux), doesn't bake my lap.

Frankly, except for heavy graphics or compiling, I don't see any real
point to anything beyond 32 bit & 1GHz or so. Run 256 MB RAM, 512 even.
What more can anyone need?
