You might be able to avoid the problem if you have SP2 installed before
you install an uncertified driver, or maybe my client is just unlucky
enough to get exactly the wrong driver. Maybe SP2 treats different
types of uncertified drivers differently. Maybe this is an updated
version of SP2, since he installed it only a couple of days ago. All I
know is what happened. See my previous message for what happened.
I know of some people that think SP2 is the greatest thing since sliced
bread and haven't had problems with it on any of a dozen machines. I
know of some people that think SP2 is a tool of the devil and have had
maybe one or two machines out of a dozen come through intact after
installing SP2. Clearly, different system configurations cause the bugs
of SP2 to have different effects for on different computers.
