I stopped using Galeon once distros moved to GTK+ 2 (GNOME 2). The
1.3.x series is a disappointment and it's just hard for the maintainer
to keep up with all the changes in Mozilla.

The last, solid Galeon release IMHO was 1.2.x for GTK+ 1. The 1.3.x
releases have not caught up with its features. And the GTK+ 1 was
ultra-fast.

I've now switched to Firefox.

I'd love to figure out a way to backport newer Mozilla releases to work
with GTK+ 1 and re-create Galeon 1.2.x with it, but it would be far too
much work.

If you like it, it's worth the cost.
If it makes you more productive, it's worth the cost.

We're not talking about putting your data in a Hostageware or even
Commerceware format.
We're talking about using a Standardware application.

If it's better than a Freedomware solution, then it might be worth the
cost if it works better for you.
That's one reason why I spring the $79 for StarOffice.

Then buy Opera.

With Mozilla a moving target, it was always difficult for Galeon to keep
up. Unlike Firefox, it relies on the Mozilla binaries at run-time.

Again, I stopped using Galeon after 1.2.x, when the move was made to
GTK+ 2. I have not seen a number of feature in 1.3.x that were in
1.2.x.
