One of the biggest reasons for not running as root is that any
script/app that you run will be able to make any damaging changes to the
system possible. If you do not run as root and hince do not have
authority to make system changes, then none of the apps you execute can
cause damage to those restricted files. So if you give the user you log
in as an ID of 0, then if you launch something with a trojan etc by
accident, it will have free reign on your system.
