Actually, I meant "cables using the DB15 connector"

The higher the frequency, the more important the shielding is. CAD systems
running high-refresh hi-resolution displays are far more picky about the
cable than regular 'ole PCs. I don't know the specs of the Sun workstation,
but I'll bet it fall in that category. The HP/UX workstations with
fixed-frequency displays were especially critical.

I have to use a (6 foot?) VGA extension cable because of the relative
placement of my computer and monitor. At first I had a cheapo extender
(Belkin?), and I had ghosting (~9 pixels at 1536x1152). Bought a decent
cable from a place that sold mainly cables, no more ghosting.

So this is not directly related to the choice of adapters, but if the total
cable length gets long, make sure they're all of good quality.
