Yes, Verizon told me that I'll be using PPPoE with this equipment, and
that they are in fact planning FIOS (fiber) in the area in the next few
months. This "deal" includes the modem for free and a reduced monthly
rate. I could get a regular DSL modem instead, but I'd have to pay for
the modem, and then pay more per month.
