Frank,
It all depends. DSL in this area can be configured one of three ways
each way will get you a different speed.
768/128 - going to dowloand about 90KBps max
1.5mbps/384 going to get a max of 185-190
3mbps/768 goint ot get a max of 310-320
Most likely you have the middle one which is base packagae the 768
package if for people very far away from the CO or RT.
These are the max capable speeds and may or may not be what you see
when downloading an linux iso.
Also which mirror you are downloading from can also be an issue. If
you using windows you might want to try download acellerator plus to
plull from multiple mirrors which will max out your connection.
