Last time I heard you still had to use programs like Decss on linux to
decrypt the DVD.... Which is techincally illegal under the DMCA.
Then the people that make WinDVD were suppose to make a DVD player
software for linux never new what came of that, as it not up at
intervideo.com I would assume that they caned the project. There is
oggle which will play non encrypted DVDs but so can Xine play non
encrypted DVDS. But on the oggle website they have a list of movies
that are not encrypted with CSS .

I found this webpage ( http://linuxgazette.net/issue81/durodola.html )
to be a very good read about dvd playing in linux and good insturctions
what needs to be done to get it to work... It was written for Suse
8.0 but it is the general concept has not change on what you should get
or use.
