Mark,

What version of gcc did it ask for?? I would think that it would be
easier to match the version of compiler than hack the source. I've
heard of people having multiple versions of gcc installed and chrooting
when needed. I have never had this issue though as it seems that they
try to do a pretty good job of being backward compatible. If it's a
newer version you need, then upgrade ;^)!!
