The DMCA makes it illegal to circumvent "copyright" protection for any
reason except:

1) Lists of sites blocked by commercial Internet filtering software,
but not spam-fighting lists.

2) Computer programs protected by hardware dongles that are broken or obsolete.

3) Computer programs or video games that use obsolete formats or hardware.

4) E-books that prevent read-aloud or other handicapped access formats
from functioning.

Circumventing any technical measure (however weak or silly) that is
considered "copyright" protection for any reason other than the 4
exemptions is in violation of the DMCA. Fair use and all that doesn't
matter in this game because that is what you do with the copyrighted
content AFTER you get through the protection. The DMCA makes it
illegal to bypass the protection.

Yeah, it's good times.
