[SLUG] when you've got a 64 bit headache...

Hello all!

Been trying to set dear old dad up with a 64 bit SuSE 9.3 install.

It's a Compaq R4000 with an Athlon 64 3200 and the new ATI Radeon Xpress
200M. The only distro that supports that beast (the ATI) so far is
ubuntu. I'm down to only 1 issue. I finally got the wireless working
with a 64 bit version of the Broadcom driver and the ndiswrapper. The
issue is that the clock seems to tick at double time. All icons go at
double rate, system clock seconds go twice as fast. I found a few
things that suggest the boot option "noapic" and when I use that, it
fixes the clock issue but breaks rj eth connectivity and breaks the
wireless. Anybody deal with anything even like this?? I know the
technology is new but I'd like to get him an install that he doesn't
have to monkey with passing a wack option for this and another for that.
I've tried breaking away from SuSE's kernel and compiled the latest
(2.6.12-5) stable to no avail. Any ideas?? I've _never_ had this much
trouble with a linux install and we all know that you can't let the
machine win sooo...... :^)

Thanks!

Mike Branda Jr.
