Funny this would come up as just last night as I was waiting on dad's 64
bit SuSE install I was playing with custom keymaps on my laptop. I'm
trying to get the one touch wifi button working. Take a look at the man
pages for:

setkeycodes
dumpkeys
loadkeys
showkey

and google them. Much of what I came across was about re-mapping custom
key combinations with these tools and then adding a line or 2 into the
XF86Config to enable your hack.
