This sounds a little [[more like very] dangerous to me.
If one yanks the HD and then wants to do data recovery one must place said HD
in a computer which given how this discussion is going would mostlikely be a
MS box. Then if said HD had a virus on it you have just infected the second
box which will then most likely do exactly what the first box is doing.
To me a better approach would be to use Knoppie or some other Live
distribution to copy said data to a safe location and then do a complete
reinstall if a reinstall is what you plan on doing.
First approach to me would be to trash Netscape and then do complete virus
scan. I also believe that there is a way to force a MS box to boot into safe
mode and that that was discussed several days back. After forcing into safe
mode I would the reset reboot on crash feature to off. I also believe this
was discussed several days back so for detail consult the archives. as I my
knowledge in MS is much less than my Linux knowledge which is not great.
