Note: Always check your distro's package manager first for any piece
of software you want to install. This has several advantages:
a) You know if it installed correctly.
b) You know the config files etc are in the correct place for your
distribution.
c) It's easy to remove if you decide you don't like it.
d) You don't have to hunt around for it once it's installed.
