Actually, if you already have the vob, you shouldn't need to rerun
dvdauthor (completely).
Try:
mkdir -p dvdfs/VIDEO_TS dvdfs/AUDIO_TS
mv mymovie.vob dvdfs/VIDEO_TS
dvdauthor -T -o dvdfs (should be near-instant)
growisofs -Z /dev/dvd -dvd-video dvdfs/
I'm not sure why growisofs would complain - I've burned images larger
than 4.2G with it before...
