RMS is the cornerstone of the Free Software movement. His contribution to
projects like GNU (especially the GPL license), and the FSF have made a
tremendous impact on the IT industry around the world. Most likely everyone
in SLUG has directly benefited from his work. Yes, he can be a
little...eccentric. But even so, I think that he has more than earned our
respect and gratitude.

I found a nice video recording of RMS explaining the definition of Free
Software and its benefits. I cannot imagine a person who is better suited to
address the topic of Free Software at a Software Freedom Day event than RMS
himself.
