Regardless we know they are more than likely using the few feet between the
curb and your actual property line called right of way. It's also possible
that they rely on geographic notes as to where they lay the fiber in the
first place.

When I have pulled fiber outdoors I used a special basically plastic
electrical conduit. But it has been fairly short runs inside the property.

They sometimes use sewers to save money.

Micro Cabling Systems uses a thin copper tube that can carry 60 fibers.

Alcatel says that running through rivers, sewer systems, subway networks and
tunnels are used in cities where costs for laying fiber is high.

They have aluminum and steel armored fiber as well, so it may very well depend
on the company what solution they provide, and what their budget is at the
time. With all the costs they probably have used more than one method.

One thing seems clear, they talk very highly about fiber to the home.
