I put headphones on SPKR OUT of the soud card, and the level is extremely
low. As in, I can hear nothing but Ss (and presumably Zs). Lemme try a
power cycle...

Nope, same deal. Dead preamp in the sound card? If so, any suggestions for
PCIe sound cards with lots o' I/O? (Breakout box not necessary.)
