The motivation to participate in any group function frequently hinges on ones personal investment and expected return.

When we have different objectives, we tend to go different directions. When we have similar objectives, we tend to come together to facilitate reaching those objectives.

Two things curtailed my investment.

1. Inability to identify the group objective.
2. A 50 mile commute.

Knowing what the objectives were in that meeting would have made my decision to invest easier. Unfortunately my attendance was minimal because I had no way of knowing if the group objectives were similar to mine.
