I was wrong earlier, my apologies. You should be able to enter whatever
hostname (assuming it's resolvable) you want for your name servers.

This is most likely your problem:
69-55-238-25.in-addr.arpa.johncompanies.com.
Ask johncompanies to change the PTR record to ns.civicsusa.com.
I had to do that with my provider so I could build a proper SPF record
for my MX. They said no problem and got it done within a few minutes.
