[SLUG] SATA RAID controller recommendations

We recently had a brief discussion at the St. Pete SLUG about hardware
RAID controllers. I would like recommendations from those of you that
have actually tried them with Linux. I'm currently in possession of
an older 3ware PATA card. I like 3ware only because they have been
supportive of Linux from the days when it was just a baby. I
appreciate and admire that in a company, which is why
not-so-supportive companies get no love from me. I want to build a
2TB (maybe RAID5/6) RAID.

OK so what RAID controllers are you using? Have you ever had a
catastrophic failure? Did the recover go well? Any caveats with
Linux?
