Mine (Canon Powershot A95) doesn't show up as a removable drive either, I
use GTKam to get stuff from it.

Look on the website for GTKam (I'm sure there are other programs too, but I
don't know what they are). Google to see if anyone has success using it
with Linux, and how it was done.
