So I take it the GPS isn't very good? I used my 770 with a separate
bluetooth GPS receiver, strapped to my shoulder. The one I used wasn't
very good though, only like nine channels, maybe less. The one I'm
looking at now is twenty channels. I'm not sure if there are more. I
enjoyed logging my day, seeing how long I stopped, writing notes, etc.
The lil' box is a great journal tool, and that Maemomapper rocks the
house! It's the best GPS application I've ever used, embedded or
laptop. Some apps for the gadget are downright amazing and perform
quite well, even with the 770's weaker processor. I used Gizmo for
phone calls. I think Gizmo is a sub-standard voice application and SIP
service (piggy all around), but it did actually allow me to speak with
contacts when I had a good WiFi connection. I've never used Google talk
on it though. I understand Skype has ported to it? WiFi-capable
gadgets can actually cut-out the telcos so that consumers can truly have
a choice, and with the camera, video conferencing is easy, light and
quick. 21st century technology for sure. I'm forgetting some of my
other favorite applications since I've been away from it so long.
Looking forward to hacking on my 800, then maybe later getting the 810.
