If the system works fine without it, why have it? Yeah, probably some folks
have diesel-powered sound cards that need it, but not Chuck Hast.

Also, killing it works fine _now_, but unless you (CH) want to do that every
time you boot you need to stop it from being run.

Did you (CH) try playing two sounds at once? That's where an onboard sound
card failed for me (and was a big reason I went back to using an add-on
card).
