I think Paul and Norb are right. Books like "Running Linux" and
sites like www.linuxnewbie.org are great sources.
Ask 'What is it I want to do?" (music, home lans, code development?)
and then read the HOWTOs on that subject.
Use your project as an excuse to learn more.
