Even though I do not have a compaq here to try out you should have a few choices in the bios.
Can you enter the parameters of c/h/s in the bios or there just drive type numbers.
maybe auto detect?
the c/h/s parameters are on the drive case. If not go to the manufactures web site for them.
if you cannot type in the parameters , then you may need a bios update.
what type of drive is the old and the new one, manufacturers, ide or scsi.
I don't think you need the c/h/s for scsi.
