I second Norb's recommendation of Compupic. Tres nice. It may upset
some free software purists as it is distinctly closed-source, but
they've done a good job of porting and continuing to support the Linux
platform. It also opens just about every graphics format I've thrown at
it (although Norb informs me it doesn't understand xpm files, which
actually doesn't really bother me personally) and has nice thumbnailing
and management functions that no other software I've tried has.

I keep trying other software and keep going back to Compupic.
