I am in love with my SMC Barricade combo wireless access point - router
- switch - firewall doohickey.

It gives me security, network printing (through Linux for sure and
supposedly Windows too ), a secure and controllable connection to
RoadBlunder *or* through a dialup modem, choice o connecting through
Kitty-five or wireless. $199 at Compussy, slightly cheaper online but
then you have to pay shipping.

Before I saw the wireless light I happily used a Netgear kitty-5
router/switch/firewall unit.

For home/small office use, the little packaged appliaances are the way
to go - quiet, tiny, easy to set up through a browser.

I hear most of them work with Windows & Mac, too.

Now back to wrassling networking with Windows Former Urine (XP) +
wireless, something Mandrake does automatically.
