If you are wanting to install it and having a problem and do not care about
loosing Windows then try this trick.
Use a bootable dos disk before you do anything do a search on google and
download delpart.exe copy this to your bootable dos floppy.
Then run delpart tell it to delete the partitions. After this reboot then
fdisk/mbr the drive then install it will make it like new.

Now reason I say do it this way is because some PC manufactures ads a
feature in the new Bios's that looks for Windows first if it is there it
will try to boot it.
Compaq's especially do this now becase the BIOS get's it's information from
the Hard Drive! That is why most now loose the f10 to enter setup feature if
you try to re fdisk or format the drive. Now also if you get a boot sector
virus on them you loose bios access.

One of my friends also said he has experienced this on a Toshiba Laptop.
After he tired what I mentioned no problem cause the Bios does not see a os
then will boot the pc to the cdrom drive. How ever if it sees Xp or ME
because they also write and try to enhance your bios. How ever if it is
another version of {cough}Windows it will not have this problem.

I have also had to do this to a new Dell Dimensions and Latitude as well.

Hope this helps.
