Another case of Microsoft being incompatible even with Microsoft. Their
eternal upgrade and planned obsolescence rackets raise my hackles.
Where I work, we've used PowerPoint as a Poor Man's CAD to make assembly
instructions for the factory. The "new and improved" PowerPoint 97 won't
print a lot of the old files from PowerPoint versions 3 and 4. We get pages
with only random pieces of the picture.
I've been using StarImpress to edit and print those old documents, and it
works without a hitch. I've noticed a nasty tendancy of PowerPoint 97 to move
graphics around. Line images mutate, a very bad thing, and another reason why
we ported a lot of those documents over to AutoCAD and Visio (versions 4 and
5, before it got assimilated into the M$ cube).
