Heck, even if your Mac isn't smokin', you can run Linux of some kind
natively. No reason (except binary-only software) to run x86 stuff.

Mine's an emulated fast 680x0 Mac, courtesy of Basilisk. AIUI, if I found
a Mac emulator that emulated the MMU too, then I'd be able to run some
*nix on it.
