What brand was it? I got a used Dell for my wife and among other things
I found and DLed
the complete service manual for it. What ever you have, I would try to find
service info for it.
After you have it apart, I would disconnect everything you can and wash
the parts in plain warm
water, blot them dry and let them dry completely before reassembly.
