Anaconda, written largely in Python using the Newt library, is _both_
the GUI (GTK+) _and_ the text (slang) installer. Newt is the driver
behind this capability, because it can target both text (slang) and GUI
(GTK+).

If you boot another run-time, such as the Rescue CD, or merely use
Anaconda to install the "minimal" portion (which is not so different
than how I've installed Debian prior to booting and then running dselect
;-), then Anaconda is not how it is installed.

In fact, Red Hat is putting more and more of the "autodetection" portion
into the "dynmic" Kudzu for post-install, instead of in the Anaconda
installer. The idea is that anyone should be able to "plop down" a
"minimal install" however they can (e.g., HD clone, broadcast install,
APT/YUM base, etc...), and not have to rely on the "static" Anaconda
installer for hardware detection/configuration.

At this point, we can keep running in circles, or you can agree to stop
comparing and contrasting Debian and Fedora.

Anaconda is _both_ the text and GUI installer from the CD boot.

But at what point can I ask you to go at least "play" with Fedora so you
can at least offer some 1st hand experience?

In reality, I don't even want you to. I just want you to _stop_
comparing and contrasting Debian and Fedora. If you want to compare to
the Red Hat Linux version you used 18-36 months ago (whenever it was),
then that's fine. But please, no more, I can't take it. ;-p

No, I consider it rather pathetic that you continue to feel you must
compare and contrast Debian and Fedora. Not only do I typically frown
upon distro comparisons, but I really frown when it is done by a person
who has not used one being compared/contrasted. ;-p

Which brings us back to my "assumptions, assumptions, assumptions"
broken record.

Beware of advocates who justify their preference not in terms of

about another option. Such advocacy is more hurtful than helpful.
