Not at all. NT 3.5 was all new code. Nothing from Windows 1.0 was in it.
They started adding some Win32 stuff in W2k and XP for program
compatibility. I like W2K, but really dislike XP.
That being said, I'm really liking FC3 and Debian.

windows core code is the same as used in Windows 1.0.
according to them they are finally planing on scrapping the entire codebase
and starting over form scratch.
Imagine Windows functionality with *nix security and performance.
this ALMOST makes me want to move back to windows.
but not until this comes out.
the main reasoning behind this deals with the problems they have getting
Longhorn/Vista going.
there was so much Legacy code in it that it was bloated almost to the point
of being inoperable.
better to buy a new car than to keep throwing time and money at your 20 year
old clunker.
