Solved. So sorry for my stupidity and bothering you all, I know I said in my
email of a short time ago that I said I had checked the bios. After I sent
the mail I figured I had better check again. Well....I missed it. Both the
usb and the ac97 chip were disabled.Turned them on and all is well.

Evidently too simple. At least you all made me think and recheck.
