What is the server? Can you access it _from this machine_? Might be
something with your connectivity (routers, firewalls, etc.). Just for
kicks, try slashes instead of backslashes. Try
"smb://user@ip.ad.dr.ess/share". Failing those, I'd guess misconfiguration
of the server.
