Richard,

The live CD I used was Suse 11.0. The live CD ends up at
the user screen without the need to login. Maybe there is
something different with 11.1. I loaded 11.1 onto a
machine recently, but it was a network install.

If you haven't checked the md5sums you might do that to see
if the CD is OK.
