Bob, I have the original 160G HD that was on the netboot, what I am doing
(Indeed I have done it now) is copying the 160G HD to my 500G HD which
is what I really use. What I did was pull down a Acronis product and used
it to move the whole thing over to the 500G disk. I first used dd, which copied
(very slow) the whole thing over but when I tried to start windows, it comp-
lained that hal.dll was corrupt, I replaced it and got the same thing so I just
reformated the partition and used Acronis to move it, that took care of it,

As to using a VM, I am not sure that the Atom processor has the horsepower
to run the VM at the speed I would need for the oscilloscope display Under
Windows it is already somewhat short on horsepower, especially when I
ask it to display the analog trace along with the DSO traces (there are 8
channels of logic and 1 channel of analgo) it is not a big deal you just have
some hysteresis that you have to take into account. The manufacturer is
trying to do a Linux gui, if any of you are looking for a small USB based
scope, this is a nice solution for the price and I figure that the more people
that call and make it known that they are looking for a Linux solution the
faster they will get it done.

The only product out there that I have found which has a Linux GUI is Bit-
scope, but the have two strikes against them for what I want, price and the
fact that the device needs separate power, when I am inside a machine I
do not need to be looking around for a outlet, particularly when the last thing
that machine may have on it is 110v AC.

I was looking at the Splashtop fast boot which is based on Linux, appears
that the Splashtop people are looking at a way to allow one to add more
apps to the Splashtop desktop. I told the people I purchased the oscope
from about this, the software guy was VERY interested, as I pointed out
if they had their software on the Splashtop, I would have a working oscope
in seconds after starting up the machine. That maybe the push that gets
them to get the linux software done.
