I've been reading the mail re the courses.  It's certainly
interesting, but somehow I wonder if it can even get off the
ground.  Sorry, I don't mean to be negative, but this is a lot
of work, and it's hard to get real live people to step up to the
plate.
I'd like to throw a couple of ideas into the pot:
First, can we make a "SLUG Linux project" out of it?  Is there
any Linux "whiteboard" software out there? (Did somebody say
VNC?)  Streaming audio from the instructor?   (Optional: what
about those video camera thingies?  Maybe the instructors face
is, optionally, in a small window. Yes, it's jerky video, but
who cares).  And the whole group is connected and interactive-of
course, feedback to the instructor is via keyboard. a la chat. 
Is this possible?  Will the geek-appeal of setting up, and
using, a training system in this manner make the actual courses
more appealing?  And I mean more appealing for both teacher and
students.
Can a course delivered like this be archived and available for
future study?  I think an instructor might be willing to put
more into it if it's "re-usable".
Second, definitely, don't be too ambitious.  A rough course
outline is ok, but after that, just add content whenever you can
do so.
