Yes, there is any number of the BSD variants. BeOS 5 Personal Edition
is Free, and very much user supported like linux. Hence the off shoots
of non offical BeOS releases like BeOS Max. Then there is any number
of others free Operating Systems out there. There is one that does not
come to mind right now but they are totally writing a new OS that sole
purpose is to run windows applications better than windows. it is pretty
neat I have tried it out my self. Linux is not these peoples only
option is just a good option.
