Hi Folks:

As some of you are aware, we're having trouble with the lists and some
difficulty with NKS, getting them to resolve the issue(s). I'm working
on this, and it will likely involve moving the list and website hosting
to another place.

But it brings up another matter that's been on my mind for some time.

Most of you don't really know anything about me and have never met me. I
organized the first meeting of this group in 1997, dreamed up the
group's name and put up its website. I used to host the meetings in
Tampa and Dunedin. But I live in Clearwater, and years ago decided I
didn't want to make the drive to Tampa once a month for the meetings,
and turned them over to others to organize. Also years ago, due to lack
of attendance, I disbanded the Dunedin meetings. I take care of the
money the group has, handle the lists, maintain the website, and do
everything else that no one else wants to do. Including kick jerks out
of the group when necessary.

I've been using Linux since about 1996, and still do so today. In fact,
I spend a fair amount of my time writing PHP code on Linux.

And I've been leading this group since 1998, over a decade.

I think that's long enough.

At this point, "running" the group doesn't take up that much of my time.
But I think it's time for someone with more enthusiasm for the job to
take it over (some may say it's way *past* time). Someone with some
fresh ideas, maybe. Someone who wants to spend more time on the website
than I do. Someone who doesn't mind handling silly users who can't seem
to get themselves off the list. Etc.

So if someone wants the job, please contact me. If you'd like to
nominate someone (who's agreeable), let me know. If you know someone who
would be a *terrible* choice, let me know that too (offlist).

Thanks,

Paul
